There will be a Microblogging Conference (MBC09) in Hamburg, Germany in the end of January 2009. The reaction in the crowd is huge. Here is the first blogpost in my blog: http://tinyurl.com/MBC09-Hamburg

I'm in the Bay Area from Tuesday 10 Sep to Monday 15 Sep, and after that I've got Web 2.0 Expo in NYC for a week. I could fly back later in the month, after the 20th.
  • Evan Prodromou · 1 year ago
I'm also committed to PodCamp Montreal the 20th and 21st.
  • hardaway · 1 year ago
I much prefer Saturday the 20th or 27th, because I could just fly up to Oakland for the day and fly back. Admittedly, I'm just one person. But perhaps Saturdays are better for people who work anyway.

    Sounds like fun!
Would love to participate and/or help organize. My schedule is fairly flexible. Keep me posted!

Saturday 20th or 27th works for me. I'd fly down for the weekend most likely.
  • John Feld · 1 year ago
    I like it too.
We have just heard from the yoga teacher, and there will be no yoga in September, so the 17 and the 24 are also open all day.
  • dave · 1 year ago
Thanks. I updated the writeup, above.

All the dates look good to me. Either way I have a long flight from the east coast, but I have family around that area so will be great to visit them as well! Really looking forward to this!
  • christian · 1 year ago
I would love it if there could be recordings of the sessions. Many of us that care wont be able to make it there.
  • bobwyman · 1 year ago
I would prefer dates after Sept 21. Coming from East Coast...

Saturday 20th - subtopic: (how) can we leverage these tools in healthcare?
  • Jesse Stay · 1 year ago
I can try to participate via webcast, not sure about in person since I don't live out there. We'll see what my schedule's like.
  • Jesse Stay · 1 year ago
BTW, it would be interesting to see if the Twitter folk can attend this as well - I'm interested to see how interested they really are in helping the community as a whole rather than just their company.

FWIW, I'm in Santa Clara for ZendCon 2008 from Mon Sep 15 - Thurs Sep 18 — I'd love to make it to something like this, my lack of recent laconica participation notwithstanding :)
  • jamtoday · 1 year ago
    sweet! count me in!

As I have a day job, weekends work better for me. But I'll try to get there whenever it is.
  • Dave Rice · 1 year ago
    Keep me posted, please
  • Karoli · 1 year ago
The only days I can't make it are the 27th and 28th. The other days are a squeeze but I would definitely move heaven and earth to get there.
  • leolaporte · 1 year ago
I'd very much like to participate. My schedule is nightmarish, but I'll do my best.
  • Derek Gathright · 1 year ago
I'll be in town for ZendCon (Sept 14th-18th), but could stick around for a few additional days if it were to be held on the weekend before or after. Would love to be able to attend. I vote 19th or the 20th.
  • connectedgeek · 1 year ago
Shame it is only in CA... but I will be watching via the stream from Leo :) Thanks Leo!!
  • Sameer · 1 year ago
Sounds great. Sometime Sept 23 to 27th would be great. Looking fwd to it.
  • thomasknoll · 1 year ago
This is very intriguing to me. I'm more interested in the people end, than the tech end.
  • dahammer · 1 year ago
According to Leo Laporte, the date is set for September 9th, 2008. He will also be streaming it live @ live.twit.tv.

    From http://www.scripting.com/stories/2008/09/07/myH...

"[...] It seems like it's happening! Next Friday, Sept 12, in San Francisco. [...] Where? I think it'll be at CNET's offices in SF on 2nd St. I'll leave the logistics up to Steve. I've blocked out the whole day."

    Great event

Why does bearhug come off as a judge/jury format? The panelists aren't speaking too much. Poor twitter guys!!!

I hear this relatively common question, "Do polar bears eat penguins?" The quick answer is no. Polar bears live in the northern hemisphere while all 17 penguin species live in the southern hemisphere. Think of it this way: POLar bears live near the North POLE. Penguins live closer to Antarctica. There are a number of reasons this is confusing though.

Last time I took a "summer job" it was at a Ten Thousand Villages store in the little town where I was in college. So seeing your post about summer jobs and all your fair trade stuff juxtaposed like this makes me giggle.

    Thanks for the fav!

(You do know your sig looks a little strange, right?)

$1000 to be tortured by Steve Gillmor??? You might as well bring in John Furrier and Adam Curry to round out this ridicuklus wank fest. Or just PayPal $1000 to any meaningful charity and I'll stop the russians from disrupting this insanity.

Btw, are you fucking serious? As in, REALLY?
  • MarinaMartin · 1 year ago
I believe he means the *total* cost (for renting the space) is $1000, not that we each have to pay that individually.
  • gregorylent · 1 year ago
read the whole thread, see who the people are, and then look at your comment ... yikes ... it is possible you can learn something about yourself that would be of benefit. hope so.
